Black caraway - Nigella Seeds - Kalonji

Black caraway, Black seeds, and Nigella Seeds, or is also known as “Kalonji” in the subcontinent region. In some regions, it is also known as Black Cumin. It is semi-soft, aromatic, and jet-black in color. They have a slightly pungent and bitter taste. It tastes like a combination of oregano and black pepper. Nevertheless, it is used as a spice in India, Pakistan, and Middle Eastern cuisine.

It can be easily grounded in a blender and its powder is used with flax seed to sprinkle over vegetables, breakfast cereal, salad, cupcakes, bread, yogurt, and kefir.
