Crystal Rock Candy with Saffron -Nabat- Piradel

Size
Rock candy (also known as sugar candy or rock sugar or crystal candy), is a type of confection composed of relatively large sugar crystals. Originating from Persia (where its called 'Nabat') they are often colored with various natural colors and infused with fruity or flowery essences. These ones, in particular, are infused with saffron, which gives it its unique color, flavor, and aroma.

Rock candy is often dissolved in tea. It is an important part of the tea culture of many places, where a lump of rock sugar is placed at the bottom of the cup.

It is a common ingredient in Chinese cooking. In China, it is used to sweeten chrysanthemum tea, as well as Cantonese dessert soups and the liquor baijiu. Rock candy is also regarded as having medicinal properties, it is used as a part of traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine.
Enjoy this wonderful eastern delight with the wide varieties we have to offer at NY Spice House, we highly recommend plain black teas or those infused with cardamom.

Not as pictured

I was disappointed in the product as it does not have nearly as much saffron in each piece of rock candy as the photograph. The candy is also much lighter in color in comparison to the picture. Overall it tastes fine but I suggest visiting a middle eastern store before paying the expensive shipping cost for this nabat.
