Are there any more evocative words in the English language than Turkish delight? Full of Eastern promise and lightly dusted with Narnian magic. 

Turkish delight or lokum is a family of confections based on a gel of starch and sugar. Premium varieties consist largely of chopped dates, pistachios, and hazelnuts or walnuts bound by the gel; traditional varieties are often flavored with rosewater, mastic, Bergamot orange, or lemon.
The confection is often packaged and eaten in small cubes dusted with icing sugar, copra, or powdered cream of tartar, to prevent clinging. Other common flavors include cinnamon and mint.

The origin of the confection is not precisely known, but the candy is known to have been produced in Turkey as early as the late 1700s.

I purchased these for my daughter when she was reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

I purchased these Turkish Delights for my 12 year old Daughter when she was reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis from The Chronicles of Narnia Series. In the book it is Edward Pevensie's most coveted treat which the Snow Queen gifts to him upon his request. This Turkish delight is the gate to Edward's selfishness and betrayal. The Turkish Delights were a nice soft consistency covered in powdered sugar. My daughter preferred the pomegranate flavor to the rose and fruit flavors although she liked them all. They are very sweet, so a piece or two per sitting is enough. If you order more than one flavor I recommend opening one package at a time to preserve freshness. They keep original consistency for about 5-7 days after opening. I love that this sweet treat not only tasted delicious but also helped capture my reluctant reader and pull her into the world of Narnia.
