As the name implies, Black Hawaiian sea salt comes from the coastal waters of Hawaii. It is harvested from evaporation pools, in some cases by hand. It significantly differs from table salt in processing as well as in composition.
The latter is refined and typically contains anti-caking agents like calcium phosphate, while the mineral content in sea salt is preserved. This gives the salt a much more robust, earthy flavor.
