Japanese Yellow Curry combines the traditional flavors of turmeric and hot chiles, usually mixed with vegetables or protein and served over rice. It is rich and sour, but can also range from sweet to spicy depending on the preparation.
While the curry is now one of the most popular dishes of Japan, it was not familiar to the cuisine until the British introduced the dish, through its rule of India, in the late 1800s. It was originally an expensive specialty dish, but has been adapted over time and is now considered a national favorite.
This Japanese Yellow Curry powder provides the essential turmeric and hot chile flavor that is needed to create an authentic Japanese curry sauce. We blend traditional spices for curry less spicy than other Asian blends for our Japanese Yellow Curry.
