Moringa oleifera is a fast-growing, drought-resistant tree of the family Moringaceae, native to tropical and subtropical regions of South Asia. The leaves of the moringa tree are harvested, dried, and sold as a traditional curative for many ailments.

It is widely cultivated for its young seed pods and leaves used as vegetables and for traditional herbal medicine. It is also used for water purification. In Jamaica, the seeds and leaves of the Moringa tree are used widely, the seed is chewed while the leaves are boiled and drunk like tea.

Moringa leaves are a rich source of Vitamin C, Calcium, Protein, Potassium, and Iron. The leaves of Moringa are rich sources of beta-carotene, minerals (zinc, magnesium, and selenium), lutein, zeatin, iodine, dietary fibers, starch, etc. The leaves and seed of the tree are full of antioxidants, minerals, and amino acids.
