Ethiopian Berbere Seasoning

Various cultures have that ubiquitous spice mix that is seen in several dishes. Indian cooking has their garam masala, Somali cuisine has xawaash, the French have herbes de Provence, Some Chinese cuisines have the 5 spice mix. The Ethiopian equivalent is the Berbere spice mix. Warm, hot, and very versatile, Berbere is seen in almost every savory Ethiopian dish. As usual, each person ad company's mix may vary slightly in the amount and composition of individual ingredients, but by and large, most berbere mixes tend to have some combination of chili peppers, coriander, garlic, ginger, basil, nigella, and fenugreek.
