Blood root scientifically known as Sanguinaria canadensis is a perennial, flowering plant in the Papaveraceae family.

 In very small amounts, blood root has been used as a flavoring agent in certain dishes, particularly in Native American cuisine. It can be added sparingly to dishes for its unique flavor profile, which is described as slightly bitter and earthy.

Blood root is a strong botanical and can be used sparingly in infusions and tinctures.
