Although most people toss this material, dried cornsilk makes a tasty tea since it contains the same compounds found in mint and in thyme. Be aware, however, that corn silk may increase the effects of diuretics, such as furosemide (Lasix).

Traditionally, corn silk is prepared as a tea, but it can also be used topically to address minor skin irritations.
