Epazote Leaves - Mexican Epazote Leaves

The epazote plant is a Mexican herb with leaves that are often used in beans, soups, and guacamole. The flavor of the epazote leaf can range from slightly spicy to quite strong depending on how much you use.  It is a green herb that grows well in warm climates and has an aroma of mint mixed with coriander seeds.

Origin: Mexico

Flavor profile: pungent, similar flavor to oregano, coriander, and anise

Used in: stews, soups, beans

Health benefits:  They're rich in iron; provide relief from occasional stomach discomforts like gas or heartburn; promote digestion by stimulating the production of gastric juices that break down food particles so that nutrients may be better absorbed into the bloodstream—they even have anti-inflammatory properties!
